Obama Ad Supports Jim Martin For Senator Of Georgia

Barack Obama's ad above asks us to support Democrat Jim Martin in his race to unseat Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia. Martin and Al Franken, involved in a recount in the Minnesota Senate race, represent two votes that could push the Senate toward a 60-vote filibuster-proof majority.

Obama states that Martin supports a middle-class tax cut, health care for all and ending the war in Iraq–certainly not the priorities of Chambliss, who is busy trying to avoid testifying in the case against Imperial Sugar, the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit involving a plant explosion that killed 14 people.

In 2002, Chambliss ran disgraceful ads questioning his opponent Max Clelland's patriotism and accusing the latter of being soft on Osama bin Laden. The supposedly "unpatriotic" Clelland is a decorated veteran who lost an arm and two legs in the Vietnam war. Chambliss has a record of non-support for veterans.
