Saturday Night At The Liberal Curmudgeon: David Byrne And Talking Heads

David Byrne was the leader of the outstandingly innovative American New Wave rock band Talking Heads (1974-1991). They're shown above performing "Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place)" in the highly acclaimed concert movie "Stop Making Sense" (1984), directed by Jonathan Demme. In 2004, Byrne performed the same song in Holland, adding strings and vibes in a rendition that still rocked:

Over the past year, Byrne transformed the Battery Maritime Building in downtown Manhattan into a cast-iron orchestra in a project called "Playing The Building" and designed nine sets of colorful bike racks that were temporarily installed throughout the city. Learn more about Byrne's projects at DavidByrne.com. He's one of the most creative individuals on the planet.
