Organized by Join The Impact, thousands in Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and elsewhere across the country on Saturday rallied against the passage of Proposition 8 in California, which rescinded the marriage rights of gays. Of course, this is more than a gay rights issue; it is also a civil and human rights issue.
Heather Baker, special education teacher from Boston who addressed the crowd at Boston's City Hall Plaza, put it perfectly: "We are the American family, we live next door to you, we teach your children, we take care of your elderly. We need equal rights across the country."
