The Atlantic called the speech of Phil Davison, Republican nominee for treasurer in Stark County, Ohio, "the worst stump speech ever." One thing's for sure: you've never before seen anything like this desperate, freaked-out, rambling appeal. Davison is a 13-year council member in Minerva, Ohio; his current council position is part-time. He wants to establish "a radical branch of the Republican party." Regarding Pastor Terry Jones, who's been threatening a sick Koran-burning stunt in Florida, Davison stated, "I wouldn't do it but I don't condemn him for doing it." Bear in mind as you watch that Davison stated that he has a master's degree in communication:
Davison: I will not apologize for my tone tonight... If nominated tonight I can guarantee with 100% certainty that what you are seeing from me tonight is what everyone else is going to get over the next eight weeks.
I suppose the audience took those words as a warning. Davison did not get the nomination.
