Boehner's Sense Of Irony: Names Bachmann To Intelligence Committee

What possessed Representative John Boehner (R-OH), incoming Speaker of the House, to name Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) to the House Intelligence Committee? Committee members must keep their mouths shut about meetings, already rendering Bachmann a security risk. Then there's what Bachmann actually says. Boehner's associating the word intelligence with a politician incapable of making sense reveals a certain ironic sensibility on his part. “And what a bizarre time we’re in, Jan, when a judge will say to little children that you can’t say the pledge of allegiance, but you must learn that homosexuality is normal and you should try it.” — Senator Michele Bachmann, appearing as guest on radio program “Prophetic Views Behind The News,” hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 6, 2004

In August 2009, Keith Olbermann presented the "Best of Bachmann." With "Crazy" as the soundtrack, "Our Favorite Wingnut" sounds off on carbon dioxide's low risk, why Minnesotans should be armed and dangerous, young Obama supporters being shackled and chained, the census leading to internment camps and anti-American politicians:

I wonder, did the Boehner lip quiver, the face scrunch up, the voice break, and the tears gush when he made this monumentally absurd appointment?

I can only shake my head in disbelief.

Oh yeah, I love your blog. Have a happy holiday.
