Hot Tuna Throws An Electrifying Birthday Party At The Beacon

Jorma Kaukonen, guitarist, and Jack Casady, bassist, began Hot Tuna in 1969 as an offshoot of the Jefferson Airplane. Last night at New York's Beacon Theater, they demonstrated their electrifying blend of blues and rock and celebrated Jorma's 70th birthday. Joining them were guest musicians Oteil Burbridge, Allman Brothers bassist; Steve Earle, singer-songwriter, and, most exciting for me, Bob Weir, Grateful Dead guitarist. Above, the band performs their classic "Been So Long." (Video: h/t stamp1220)
