President Hosni Mubarak will be driven from power in Egypt. Everything else about the Egyptian uprising is difficult to predict, including the country’s new leadership, the Egyptian economy, the Obama administration’s position, and the effects on Israel and the Palestinians, both anxious about Egypt for their own reasons. Putting aside these future quandaries, the Egyptian people are throwing off a regime that has long stood for domestic repression and stagnation.
