Remembering Amy Winehouse

In a beehive and makeup reminiscent of The Ronettes, Amy Winehouse performed “I’m No Good” at a live BBC session. As music critic Jon Pareles wrote, "She was just getting started." Winehouse was an heir to the R&B and soul traditions and, at the same time, a startlingly original vocal stylist and songwriter. Her two albums should have been the foundation of a long career, but Winehouse's self-destructiveness, epitomized in her song “Rehab,” finally deprived the music world of an outstanding talent.
