Saturday Night At The Liberal Curmudgeon: Keb’ Mo’ Performs “It Hurts Me Too”



Singer, songwriter and bluesman Keb’ Mo’ demonstrates his slide guitar and harmonica virtuosity in this performance of the blues standardIt Hurts Me Too.” The concert took place in June 2001 at the Piazza Blues Festival, Switzerland.

As much as I enjoy the body of Keb' Mo's work, I can't seem to warm up to his latest release, THE REFLECTION. He seems to have moved from his Delta blues roots to more accessable soul folk arena. Mo' has earned, however, some additional effort on my part, to convince me that his latest is a "reflection" on his musical growth. He's done it before, with some success. At 60, he is still willing to try and I guess that's a good thing. But thank you for reminding us of just how special Keb' Mo' has been in keeping a new generation informed about the music stemming from the mighty Mississippi.

Yes, for keeping the Delta blues tradition alive, Mo' deserves accolades.
