In January, we listened to the brilliant, late pianist and composer Michel Petrucciani accompany saxophonist Charles Lloyd. Now let’s turn to Petrucciani’s interpretation of the Miles Davis composition “So What” (Davis's 1959 rendition was showcased here in Dec. 2008). Accompanied by Anthony Jackson on bass and Steve Gadd on drums, Petrucianni performed the piece in Stuttgart, Feb. 1998. Enjoy the subtlety of Petrucciani’s touch and the interplay among the trio; toward the end, Gadd plays the main riff with his brushes.
