North Carolina Pastor Wants Gays Behind Electric Fence

We recently watched Pat Robertson tell a viewer that she should destroy a friend's statue of the Buddha–an act reminiscent of the Taliban. Pastor Charles Worley of the Providence Road Baptist Church, Maiden, NC, provided a more horrific example of the Taliban-like aspirations of right-wing fundamentalists. His idea is to "get rid of all the lesbians and queers" by confining them behind an electrified fence until they "die out." They "can't reproduce," after all...and straight couples can't have gay children, right? Watch:

WORLEY: I figured a way out, a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers but I couldn’t get it past the Congress: build a great big large fence, 50 or a hundred mile long. Put all the lesbians in there, fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals. And have that fence electrified till they can’t get out. Feed 'em. And you know what? In a few years they will die out. You know why? They can’t reproduce. If a man ever has a young'un, praise God he will be the first.

A local group, Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate, has created a Facebook page and is organizing a peaceful protest this Sunday in front of Worley's church.
