Speaking to the Hoover Institute's Peter Robinson, George W. Bush said that he no longer wants to be in the public eye. "Look, eight years was awesome," Bush said. "You know, I was famous and I was powerful, but I have no desire for fame and power any more." While the Bush presidency was associated with "shock and awe," the public viewed his time in office as less than "awesome"; Bush received a final approval rating of 22 percent, one of the lowest for a departing president in history.
