Jimi Hendrix played "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze" on English TV, 1967, with the original Experience band that included English musicians Mitch Mitchell, drums, and Noel Redding, bass. I was thrilled to see this guitar genius and wizard two years later at Madison Square Garden.
It is unfortunate and yes, hard to believe that all three are gone.
The power trio, such as the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream, seems to be a vestige of a time when jamming was in vogue. From what I've observed, young people today have little patience for extended improvisation, regardless of amazing musicianship.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe that none of these musicians is alive today. Also failing to survive is the "power trio" concept.
