Romney: Uninsured Can Go To The Emergency Room

What's all the fuss about 50 million Americans without health insurance? Interviewed yesterday by Scott Pelley on "60 Minutes," Mitt Romney said that the government already provides care to the uninsured. All they have to do is go to the emergency room. Pelly pointed out that that's the most expensive way to provide care, which didn't faze Romney. Watch:

In 2007, however, Romney said that people don't purchase insurance because they can show up at the hospital and get a "free ride" at the expense of taxpayers. Watch Romney defend the health insurance mandate he instituted as governor of Massachusetts:
