Thom Hartmann: Conservatives Fight For “Freedom” Of The Wealthy

Progressive radio host Thom Hartmann considers the idea of “freedom” promoted by Mitt Romney and the conservative movement since Reagan. Specifically, their conception centers around freedom from taxation and regulation for the wealthy and corporations, including Romney’s freedom to pay a lower tax rate on capital gains; freedom for corporations like General Electric to pay no taxes; freedom for Koch Industries to pollute and more trends that have benefited the one percent and hurt the rest. Hartmann also contrasts Romney’s vision with Obama’s and concludes, “Freedom should not be reserved just for the one percent… You want freedom? Provide a social safety net.” Watch:
