Lizz Winstead: "Hands Off Roe v. Wade"

Today is the 40th anniversary of the passing of Roe v. Wade. According to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 70 percent of Americans oppose its being overturned, the highest number since 1989. Regardless, abortion foes continue their fight; the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-choice think tank, states that 135 laws restricting access to abortion over the past two years were enacted in 30 states, most with Republican-majority legislatures. Another poll, conducted by Pew, finds that 53 percent feel that abortion is “is not that important, compared to other issues.” Such apathy may enable anti-choice forces to continue passing bills rendering access more difficult. Comedian, writer and producer Lizz Winstead created a video reflecting the state of American women's reproductive rights on this anniversary. She shows that there's ample reason for pro-choice forces to be both concerned and engaged. Watch:
