Matt Rothschild: No Accountability For The Iraq War

Matt Rothschild, editor of The Progressive Magazine, marked the recent 10th anniversary of the Iraq War (March 19, a day in which bombs killed at least 50 in Iraq) by noting its horrendous costs in terms of our troops and Iraqi civilians, as well as its astronomical financial price. Yet those who prosecuted a war built on lies have not been held accountable. Listen:

I still find it rather disconcerting that The United Statesm, supposedly setting the example of behavior to which all other nations should strive, the defender of self-determination throughout the world, proclaiming to be the most peace-loving nation to have ever existed, gets involved in more unnecessary foreign entanglements, leading to more wars, than any nation on earth. And, as Mr. Rothschild points out, if no reason exists for a state of war, we simply create one.

In addition, the Bush administration sanctioned torture. That certainly set a terrible example; not only is it clearly unethical and dubious in terms of getting valid information, but it also put our troops in danger to this day.
