Harris-Perry: African Americans Don't Need A History Lesson From Rand Paul

In an open letter, Melissa Harris-Perry reminded Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) that African-Americans don't need a history lesson from him. Paul's awkward lecture at Howard University implied that African Americans left the GOP because they wanted "free stuff" and glossed over the facts that Democrats opposed to civil rights became Republicans and that Paul himself was opposed to a central tenet of the Civil Rights Act. She also referred to Paul's condescending question to the audience regarding the NAACP founders ("Would everybody in here know they were all Republicans?"). Watch:
