Fischer: The New Yorker's Bert And Ernie Cover Promotes Child Abuse

The New Yorker's current cover, "Bert and Ernie's Moment of Joy" by Jack Hunter, shows the Sesame Street Muppets cuddling while watching news of the Supreme Court overturning DOMA. Bert and Ernie have long been rumored to be gay, though Sesame Street stated in 2011 that the two have no sexual orientation. Regardless, Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association decried the cover for depicting a "homosexual clinch on the couch" and condemned The New Yorker for "promoting child endangerment and...child abuse." Fischer based his comments on the repeatedly debunked study by Mark Regnerus, which claimed negative consequences for children of gay couples. Watch:
