Jim DeMint: Women Want Forced Ultrasounds

Former Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) said on “Meet the Press” today that forced ultrasounds are gaining wider acceptance because they give women “the opportunity to see that there’s a real child.” Rachel Maddow countered that women aren’t getting an “opportunity”; instead, they’re mandated by the state to have an ultrasound–and figures like Wendy Davis stand for the majority of women who object to this procedure. DeMint stated that Davis is “forgetting about the thousands of women who want an informed choice" and "a free ultrasound.” Maddow informed him that it’s neither free nor a choice. Watch:

It is time to introduce legislation requiring that any man who requests a prescription for Viagra to submit to a trans-rectal ultrasound to rule-out prostate cancer as a cause of his erectile dysfunction.
