Maya Angelou Writes Poem In Tribute To Nelson Mandela

Pulitzer-Prize winning American writer Maya Angelou wrote a poem, "His Day Is Done," in tribute to Nelson Mandela "on behalf of the American people." Angelou gave the U.S. State Department permission to circulate the poem in 15 languages. The work refers to Mandela's courage in fighting oppression and his embrace of his entire nation following the fall of apartheid: "Yes, Mandela's day is done.
