Saturday Night At The Liberal Curmudgeon: Sam & Dave Live



Among the most influential and dynamic soul and R&B artists of all time, Sam Moore and Dave Prater performed "I Thank You" in 1969. Sam & Dave, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, are also known for the hits "Soul Man" and "Hold On, I'm Comin.' " Rolling Stone counts Sam Moore among the 100 greatest singers.

Perhaps it's a bit unfair to exploit useless comparisons, but I've been carrying the banner of the notion that Stax (Memphis) soul was more honest, and dare I say, more influential than Motown, which, arguably, had more mass appeal in its heyday, especially among the crossover audience. Sam and Dave, as shown here, offer perfect evidence to support my claim.

I also agree with Rolling Stone Magazine. (Even if the current musical focus of the magazine no longer addresses my tastes - for the most part.)

Also, I'm always amused by thechoreography of the horn section.
