Obama Delivers a Zinger to Hecklers at SOTU Speech

In his State of the Union speech, President Obama spoke of an improving economy and his agenda to boost the middle class. His new-found confidence was epitomized, however, when he went off script from his prepared remarks. Some derisively applauded when he said, "I have no more campaigns to run." Obama quickly responded with a zinger: “I know because I won both of them.” His ad-lib earned a standing ovation among supporters. Watch:

Obama's SOTU speech should be instructive for Democrats as they approach the next presidential election. He was firm, almost combative at times - a man who obviously has had it with the constant knee-jerk oppposition obstruction. Had they run with the president rather than distancing themselves from him and his rather significant accomplishments, they might not have suffered the losses they brought upon themselves. My prediction: historians will label the Obama administration somewhere between very good and excellent and this speech as one of his best.

I agree. The Democrats were cowardly. Look at Alison Lundergan Grimes refusing to "admit" that she voted for Obama. The Democrats should have run on Obama's record: unemployment down, deficit down, economy improving, millions more with health care. They paid for running away.
