Saturday Night at The Liberal Curmudgeon: Nick Waterhouse Live

With an image reminiscent of Buddy Holly, Nick Waterhouse presents a mix of the rhythm and blues, jazz and soul of early rock. Above, he performed "High Tiding" at KEXP, Seattle, on March 11, 2014. The song is on "Holly," which was the album of the year on the St. James Infirmary music show, hosted by my good friend Michael Mand.

This is a great live version of the opening track of Waterhouse's remarkable 'Holly' allbum, which was, as you say, the clear-cut choice for 2014 album-of-the-year. That is not to say that there wasn't other great music last year - there's a list too long to mention - but 'Holly' is perched a cut above the rest. I intend to reach out to Waterhouse to be a guest on SJI. No promises. Once again, thanks for the plug.
